Listen and Learn

When I was a new Christian, I was so hungry to learn more about and understand The Bible.  I got saved in my late 40's and I felt I was 40 years behind!  So - I found pastors and teachers that I liked listening to - and I listened every day.  I had the sermons playing while I was working, and in the car, and when I was falling asleep.  I have to say - that it absolutely did accelerate my understanding of the Word, and solidified my faith.  There is a lot learn. Anyway - dig in!  Find a few teachers/pastors that you like listening to and take time to listen and learn.

Foundations

It’s important to have a good understanding of the bible.  There are many many good preachers and teachers out there.  I have found it best to be sure to get a mixture.  I started with solid teachings from Calvary Chapel.  Calvary Chapel goes verse by verse through the bible.  Below are some suggestions to get started.  But – listen to a few – find your favorite and keep listening.

Jack Hibbs – Calvary Chapel Chino Hills    

Jack is a Calvary Chapel pastor.  Calvary Chapels go through the bible verse by verse.  I like that!  Some pastors skip topics or verses that are hard to explain or that seem controversial.  Calvary pastors will walk you through all verses!  There are many other Calvary pastors to listen to.  Jack is one of my favorites.  I found him by listening to Grace FM in Colorado.

Are you Saved?

This is a big question that many Christians have.  And really - the most important question of your life. 

I recently have listened to Mario Maurillo - I learned about him on Flashpoint.  If you haven't listened to Flashpoint - it's basically Christian news.  In 2020 and 2021 (covid years) it was refreshing not to listen to the mainstream media.  Anyway, Mario is out and about doing revival tents and bringing hundreds and thousands to Christ.  He's blunt and to the point.  If you are not sure you are saved, listen to Mario!  By the way - you can be saved by listening to these recordings days, weeks or months later. Gods word is always alive and active.

Bringing Christians To Christ

After about 2 years of listening to Grace FM and Calvary Chapel pastors daily - I finally remembered that one of my friends told me to listen to Todd White.  I am so glad that I did!  Todd’s mission is to bring Christians to Christ.  He’s the one that opened my eyes that Christianity is more than just what I call the boring side of Christianity which includes:  Trying to be good, going to church on Sunday and reading the bible.  He was a drug addict and Jesus saved him.  He’s an inspiring Christian.

Character of God

Some people left God or chose not to believe in God because of something that happened in the past.  Perhaps you lost a loved one.  You prayed for them, and yet they died.  Or you are mad at God because he was not there for you when you lost your job.  There are many reasons that people have for blaming God for one thing or another.   It would be beneficial to ground yourself in knowing the character of God.  Here are a few sermons you can listen to:
